Please ask DRB to enforce existing zoning laws, for this proposed North Street building.

We have a highly visible site in North Salem going thru the final stages of design review in front of both the Planning Board and the Design Review board (aka DRB). Currently, the applicant Cataldo Ambulance is applying for permits at #4 Franklin St,(the old HMA site) is asking to build a very modern building with black & gray metal siding and pre-cast concrete. A group of neighbors is asking that the applicant adheres to the existing zoning law which highly discourages the use of these materials and asks that new buildings use brick, stone & wood such as the Salvation Army building and the historic Ladder 2 Firehouse on North Street. The DRB meets on Wed. May 26 after 6 PM. https://www.salem.com/design-review-board/agenda/revised-agenda-design-review-board-meeting-may-26-2021

Please ask that the DRB enforce the existing zoning laws which support the historic look and appeal of Salem by using brick, stone & wood.
